The Sound I Could Feel

from $65.00

This photo was taken at the Lower Falls in Johnston Canyon, Alberta. The water was crashing down hard and even though I couldn’t hear it, I could feel it through the ground, like the earth was speaking in vibration instead of sound. The air was cold and fresh, and the mist touched my face as I stood close to the edge. I had walked a long way to get here, almost 1,000 kilometers on this trip. It felt crazy but every step was worth it when I finally reached this place. The trail was surrounded by tall trees and sharp rock walls and the light that came through the canyon made everything glow softly like blue, white and green all blending together. Standing there, I felt both small and alive. The waterfall was strong but the moment was calm. I couldn’t hear it but I didn’t need to, so I could feel everything. It reminded me that sometimes you don’t have to hear something to understand its power. This photo is about that feeling, strength, peace and connection with nature. It’s a memory I’ll never forget: the long walk, the cold air and the sound I could feel.
